If you're looking for a place where you could go and just chat with your friends over a fine meal & drink, there are several options such as: Blue Room (on Haile Selassie Rd, mains are around $2), HD's Restaurant (MaunganoRd, mains $2) and Mombasa Coffe House(Moi Ave, mains around $2). They all have Internet access to go with your chicken & fried:).
